An international initiative that supports the rapid development and equitable distribution of vaccines to prevent future epidemics contracted Edes & Associates to provide financial management capacity building services to clinical trial sites in West Africa. The objective of the assignment was to support this client and its partners in preparing costed site financial management assessment plans and strengthening financial management, assurance, and oversight at dedicated clinical research sites across Africa. The Capacity Assessment covered a specific number of clinical trial sites in multiple countries, with the aim of initiating Good Clinical Practice (GCP)-compliant vaccine efficacy trials.

Situation

Edes & Associates’ scope of work included:

Preparing a financial site assessment plan for each clinical trial site.

Conducting detailed assessments of existing financial management systems and practices at the sites.

Providing concise, time-bound, practical, and value-adding recommendations to address financial and grant management capacity gaps and challenges.
